1 – Biden White House throws ‘inflation reduction’ party with James Taylor as stocks crash over dismal 8.3% rate
The New York Post reports: President Biden threw an “inflation reduction” party Tuesday — even as inflation hit a worse-than-expected 8.3%, the stock market tumbled and stubbornly high prices for food and housing continue to slam American households.

Biden, 79, had classic folk rocker James Taylor kick off the White House South Lawn bash with his 1970 hit “Fire and Rain” — a song reportedly about suicide and heroin addiction — to belatedly celebrate passage of his Inflation Reduction Act spending bill.

But Biden, who hailed the 74-year-old Taylor as “a voice that heals our soul and unites a nation,” failed to mention the market rout sparked by the dismal Labor Department’s Consumer Price Index released earlier Thursday.

The disappointing monthly report showed inflation continued to remain near record-high levels in August – despite a continued demand-driven decline in the cost of gasoline.

Cheaper gas was offset by steep 12-month jumps in the cost of food (up 13.5%), electricity (15.8%), rent (6.8%) and health insurance (24.3%).

MY TAKE: Biden throws a party as America crumbles. Just can’t make this stuff up! And by the way, DML said the market would crash this week, and it did!

2 – Biden to announce $900 million electric vehicle infrastructure overhaul at Detroit auto show
Fox Business reports: President Joe Biden will attend an auto show in Detroit, Michigan on Wednesday, where he will tour the newest models in auto-manufacturers electric vehicle portfolios and announce a new infrastructure plan to make driving electric vehicles more accessible.

Biden, a vintage car enthusiast and owner of a 1967 C2 Corvette Stingray, will meet with dozens of automakers at the North American International Auto Show to boast about the Inflation Reduction Act — a recently signed climate and health care law that offers tax incentives for buying electric vehicles.

On Wednesday, he will also announce a $900 million plan to build EV chargers across 53,000 miles of the national highway system, a White House official said. The plan will include construction in 35 states, the official added.

The plan comes as Biden has already announced nearly $85 billion of investments through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the Inflation Reduction Act and the CHIPS and Science Act, which increases the production of electric vehicles, batteries and EV chargers across America.

The president has claimed these laws will add jobs to the economy and help fight climate change.

3 – Mike Lindell says FBI seized his phone
The Washington Examiner reports: MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell claims the FBI seized his phone on Tuesday.

The mustachioed businessman said the encounter happened at a Hardee’s drive-thru on his way home from Iowa in Mankato, Minnesota.

“I open my door and I say, ‘Who are you?’ And he says, ‘We’re FBI,’” Lindell recalled on his show, the Lindell Report. He said the FBI agents showed him their badges upon request and told him to pull over.

“He goes, ‘We’re taking your cellphone. We have a warrant for your cellphone.’ I go, ‘No.’ I said, ‘My whole company, I run five companies off of that. I don’t have a computer. My hearing aids run off of this. Everything runs off of my phone,’” Lindell said. “I said, ‘If I don’t give it to you, will you arrest me then?” At that point, the agents apparently handed him the search warrant for his phone.

Lindell said he was advised by his lawyer, whom he was allowed to call, to hand over his phone to the FBI. He added that he wasn’t given a chance to back up his phone.

4 – Anti-War Vandals Deface 9/11 Memorial at Michigan State University
The Washington Free Beacon reports: Anti-war vandals defaced a 9/11 memorial at Michigan State University for the second year in a row.

The school’s Young Americans for Freedom chapter on Sunday assembled the memorial, which featured the words “Never Forget” and was surrounded by 2,977 American flags to commemorate the number of people killed in the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001. By Tuesday morning, vandals painted “bloody” handprints on the memorial, along with the phrase “461,000 Iraqi civilians,” an apparent reference to Iraq war casualties. Just last year, vandals erased the “Never” in “Never Forget” on the Young Americans for Freedom memorial at Michigan State, and spray-painted “Israel” over an American flag.

Since 2003, Young Americans for Freedom has constructed memorials on high school and college campuses as part of its 9/11: Never Forget Project. A spokeswoman for the group says 20 of their memorials have been vandalized since the project began in 2003. In 2021 a student leader at Washington University in St. Louis discarded the American flags from an identical memorial, which he called “insidious” and “a political prop upholding American hegemony.”

Michigan State Young Americans for Freedom chapter president Jaryn Crouson told the Washington Free Beacon that such vandalism shows why the memorials matter.

MY TAKE: Absolutely appalling.

5 – Education Department Promotes Trans Resources For Three-Year-Olds
The Daily Caller reports: The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, the education arm of the state government, promotes transgender video resources and suggested reading explicitly aimed at preschoolers, according to a resource titled “Resources for Gender Expansive Preschoolers.”

The guide includes a litany of resources for three to five-year-olds, including videos that talk about transgender ideology. One video shows the story of a biological girl whose parents transitioned her to a boy.

Parents of gender-confused three-year-olds are encouraged to seek “gender-affirming” treatment. The guide showcases articles from NPR and the New York Times, both of which make the case for affirming a minor’s perceived gender identity.

The guide also encourages parents to read “A Quick & Easy Guide to They/Them Pronouns.” The comic-style book dubs anyone who refuses to capitulate to non-binary pronouns as “jerks.”
